How to Login to ACP

Post by NollyBland » Wed May 29, 2019 11:08 pm

Installed phpBB several weeks ago. Been on holiday and when I got back I have been unable to login to the ACP.
Not sure of the Username or Password. Can someone please get me restarted.

Thanks,
Norman

look at the posts on the board and that will tell you what your username is.

then, click on the forgot password link on the login page and you will get a new password sent to your email .

once you get that, you login with that temporary password and go to the admin panel and manage your username and change the password to a good one.

Sorry but I am lost. I have a new phpBB installation. The Forum does not have any posts yet. I believe that I did login as the adminstrator and have no doubt changed the Username and Password. I do not know what the correct URL is for login into the ACP.

You cannot log into ACP unles you have a Password. You get to ACP login if you cannot log in as an Administrator. You cannot log in as Administrator if you have forgotten your Password. This is a catch 22 or Conundrum.

Found a Bash Script on GitHub that provided me a new Administrator User Name and Password. Uploaded and ran that script and I can now log in as the Administrator. I have a seperate issue now which may require me to create a new post. I had already set up another user with Administrator privileges but I only want one of them. How do I remove one?

Thanks, Norman

at the board admin panel, users section :
you can change password of the first administrator.
login to admin panel with first admin account & delete new admin account

I can already log into the original Admin Account as per my previous post. When I attempt to delete the second account with Admin and Mod privileges it comes up with the following information:

You are not allowed to remove founder accounts.

Thanks, Norman

first you have to remove founder status for that account. that option is available at user profile in admin panel. after that you should be able to remove that second administrator.

does your first admin account has founder status ?
if not then you can retain the second one & delete the first admin.

Thanks. I have just this minute found that and that did the trick. It would be great if I new the myriad of options available and could recall them at an instant  Thanks again.
