502 error when attempting to enable extensions

Post by thepostman » Sat Jun 15, 2019 11:43 pm

What version of phpBB are you using? phpBB 3.2.7
What is your board's URL? https://forums.aseaofred.com/forums/
Who do you host your board with? RIchweb
How did you install your board? I just inherited the board and upgraded it to 3.2.7 last night
What is the most recent action performed on your board? Update from 3.0.x to 3.2.7
Is registration required to reproduce this issue? Yes
Do you have any MODs installed? No
Do you have any extensions installed? No
What version of phpBB3 did you update from? phpBB 3.0.13-PL1
What extensions do you have installed? No extension installed yet due to this issue
What styles do you currently have installed? Proflat and Flat Style
What language(s) is your board currently using? British English
Which database type/version are you using? MySQL 5.6.40-0+deb8u4
What is your level of experience? Very much a novice but catching on
What username can be used to view this issue?
What password can be used to view this issue?
What actions did you take (updating your board; installing a MOD, style or extension; etc.) I attempted to add the SiteSplat BBCore extension so I can install the flatboots style correctly
Please describe your problem. I recently took over admin duties for this message board. I upgraded the board last night, and other then a minor database issue that I was able to quickly correct, the update went very well. The problem comes when I attempt to enable an extension. When I click enable on the confirm page I get a 502 Gateway message. Nothing else on the board is timing out so I am wondering if it is something silly I am missing.

Thank you for your help. Be gentle on me. I am a noob

Look in de error logs from your server for errors.
If you don't know where the are ask your host.

Can you install other extensions?
this one maybe: viewtopic.php?f=616&t=2457556
Sorry! My English is bat ;) !!!

Our host hasn't given me the rights to look at the logs but I have sent an e-mail to him to see if he sees anything out of the ordinary in the logs that would be beneficial.

In the meantime, I tried to enable the extension you mentioned and I still had the same problem.

Another interesting tidbit I just discovered is I get a 502 bad gateway messages when trying to delete user accounts but not when I add new users. I am not sure if that is helpful info or not but I thought I would at least add it. Thank you!

If your host will not allow you to see error logs it's time to get a new host.

I agree but that is something I will address later. I was able to run database cleaner and it cleaned up the mess left over from upgrading and everything is working as it should.
