Install link fails

Post by abhayns » Wed Jun 19, 2019 6:29 am

I have uploaded phpbb3 on hayns.uk/forum2 which produces the usual introduction screen however the install button does not work. It simply returns to the intro screen. Please help with advice. I have edited the permissions as instructed. phpbb3 is working well on another domain on this server.

As part of trying to solve this issue I have uploaded and installed phpbb2 on hayns.uk/forum which appears to work.

Re: Install will not load?

I also have a problem getting install to run. I have completed the standard support template as below. Any help would be much appreciated

What version of phpBB are you using? phpBB 3.2.7
What is your board's URL? Hayns.uk/forum2
Who do you host your board with? Hostgator
How did you install your board? I used the download package from phpBB.com
What is the most recent action performed on your board? Attempted install
Is registration required to reproduce this issue? No
Do you have any MODs installed? unknown
Do you have any extensions installed? No
What styles do you currently have installed? none yet
What language(s) is your board currently using? English
Which database type/version are you using? MySQL 5
What is your level of experience? Basic/low
What actions did you take (updating your board; installing a MOD, style or extension; etc.) prior to this problem becoming noticeable? No MOD/style etc just trying to do initial install

Please describe your problem. Uploaded php3 to hayns.uk/forum2 Edited permissions produces introduction screen but the install button (at the bottom of the screen) does not work. Phpbb3 is working well on another domain (bicesterhunt-members.co.uk/forum) on the same server. As part of trying to solve the problem I installed phpbb2 on hayns.uk/forum which seems OK. php 5.6 is being used. I have tried php 7.1 both fail I have tried to upgrade phpbb2 but fails.

Welcome.

First and foremost does your server have the necessary resources to run phpBB 3.2? See the 3.2 User Guide for the necessary requirements - it looks to me like something’s not set up properly.

Resources should be OK against phpbb installation check list and because we have phpbb3 working well on bicesterhunt-member.co.uk/forum which is on the same server

Issue solved by correcting ownership of directory from root to the username of the account/domain
