How to remove strings of open fields?

Post by 1time » Mon Jul 15, 2019 1:59 pm

Hi guys, hope you all are having a great day.

I got a question regarding the following... On several locations on my website, the registration form, the search form for example, you see there are some strings filled in already... when you click on the open field to type in whats demanded, the text dissapears.
The form etc works flawless, so when you search something or for example use the registration form, all goes well.
I have had to copy all dutch translation over the english ones to get the translations working 100/100 in this theme, so perhaps something is overwritten that causes this. Again, its not a functionality issue, but more getting it to look good again.
Can you perhaps give me a code for custom css to hide this ''x text'' or how it is called so that its blank again before you type something?

I have tried searching for solution but really need you guys on this one...
Many many thanks in advance for your help!!

Kind regards,

Do they show up if the board is set to English?

If so maybe you need to ask the style author what the problem is.

I have disabled English and set to Dutch...
Before I did that, I have copied the full dutch language pack to the english one so that all elements were translated, because there were a few left with normal language pack install... so that was the solution, but since then the strings appear. Now i have disabled it fully...

Template author isnt really helping out and said that I was asking too much after I asked some questions....
So basically just saying your on your own..
.... so im stuck and was hoping on some help on the phpbb site...
That would be really awesome...

You'll probably need to say what the style is and/or give a link to the board so someone with template coding knowledge can find out why they are showing up like that.

But if you re-enable English and switch over to it as a test at least it enables you to see if it's a style issue or a language file issue.

yes, what style is that? I have never seen the registration form like that.

also, quite often when the language strings show up like that it is because the language pack is not up to date or has not been translated properly or completely.

Also try disabling any extensions you may be using, change to prosilver and activate the en language and test as those strings aren’t default phpBB.

Hello Lumpy Burgertushie, yes that might be the issue.. cause i just overwritten the original english files with my dutch files, so that ALL the site is translated... cause before like 85 procent was translated and to get it fully translated I needed to do that...

So what happened when you did this?:
