Removing old tables

Post by petereeles » Tue Sep 10, 2019 7:03 pm

I've been using phpBB for over a decade and as customisations/extensions have come and gone, I seem to have been left with a database that contains a mix of current and old tables. So that I can get rid of those that are no longer used, is there a list somewhere of the tables that phpBB 3.x uses?

I guess I could install a new board and take a look - but was wondering if there's any documentation that would give me the list I'm after?

Thanks in advance all!

Cheers,

- Pete

Haven't found the documentation for 3.2 (yet)
but you can have a look at schema.json in /install/schemas

edit: found this but that's for 3.0 and 3.1 https://wiki.phpbb.com/Tables

What phpBB version is your database?

Thanks both - that's exactly what I need.

Currently using 3.1, but will migrate to 3.2 soon. Whatever the version, I think I can spot the redundant tables, so thanks for your help.

Cheers,

- Pete

The reason I ask was I was hoping it would be 3.0 as there’s a support toolkit for 3.0 that had a database cleaner.

Does this help?

You can remove non standard modules, permissions, and/or the database changes from installing AutoMOD by following the procedure below.

Note: If you see only the AutoMOD option then at least one installed extension has been detected. You will need to disable each and delete their data before all the options of the file will be available. (Deleting data from the extensions would break them.)
  1. Make sure you make a backup of your database before proceeding.
  2. Uploading this file, modission_reset_321.php, to the root of your board installation on the server.
  3. Log into the board as a founder and/or admin.
  4. Navigate your browser to the file, for example http://www.example.com/example_forum/modission_reset.php
  5. Confirm the selected options:
    1. Modules to remove non standard modules, that is, those added by MODs. (These could also be manually deleted using Module Management in the ACP.)
    2. Permissions to remove permissions added by MODs. (There is no way to remove these in the ACP.)
    3. AutoMOD to remove the database changes from installing AutoMOD (This will not remove all database changes from installing MODs)
  6. Run the file
  7. It will provide some information about what was removed, or may give you some other message if all is not well. Make a note of that.
  8. The file should automatically delete itself from the server, if it can\'t it will tell you.
  9. If you see only the AutoMOD option then you have at least one extension installed. You will need to disable each and delete their data before all the options of the file will be available.

Good old DOS
Here you go, a listing of the 63 tables in 3.2
dirlist.txt
List of tables in phpBB3.2
(1.27 KiB) Downloaded 3 times
added: table structure (rename the file extension to zip - apparently I can't attach a zipfile here).
phpbb327_tables.txt
create tables sql
(5.13 KiB) Downloaded 2 times
My board's not broken, it just went peculiar

For 3.2, there exists a unofficial STK: https://github.com/AlexSheer/phpBB3.2-STK

[*]Uploading this file, modission_reset_321.php
Currently works only for 3.2.5, I haven't updated it yet. Waiting for 3.2.8 to be released.
