Are the spaces normal?

Post by TJK » Thu Sep 26, 2019 2:46 pm

So, recently I updated my board to 3.2.8 and I get these weird spaces .

As you can see a rather wide space is left after Registered Users which does not happen here on phpbb.com! Are these normal? Could I do something to change it?

I suggest that you ask the style author as that is not from prosilver

the spaces are because there are two line breaks in the code. where they come from is the question.
also, I wonder if you just never noticed them until you did the update and they were there all along.
don't know, but I dont' see how an update to phpbb could affect something that is part of the sitemaker extension.

you might also consider that the style is now out of date and so is the sitemaker extension.
either one or both of those could be contributing factors.

also, when you created the block to hold the stats, did you create the html for what goes into the block?

just some ideas.

Here is the code:

Code: Select all

<li><span>In total there are <strong>4</strong> users online :: 1 registered, 0 hidden and 3 guests</span><br /><br />
<span>Most users ever online was <strong>75</strong> on Tue Apr 02, 2019 6:35 am<br /> <br />Registered users: <span style="color: #9E8DA7;" class="username-coloured">SemrushBot</span></span>
</li>

In ./language/en/common.php, around line 171, you should have

Code: Select all

'REGISTERED_USERS'			=> 'Registered users:',
Are there any extra spaces between : and '?

Also, why is a BOT a Registered user?

No, there are not.

I have no idea. I just updated this board from 3.0.14 directly to 3.2.8 following the standard procedure mentioned here on phpbb.com. It has always been this way ( back in the 3.0.x era ) . I don't mind that.

Hi Robert,

there were no spaces in the old forum which by the way lies here.

The sitemaker extension is indeed now out of date. Not the style though. I downloaded the latest version of it. I'll keep digging at it. After all , it's just a minor issue. :)

not sure what you are seeing but I see the same line breaks between the different stats on the old as on the new.

however, the old one was using tables and tables have different spacing than divs in css etc.

Bots, if included in the bots table (see ACP) are indeed registered users. See https://prntscr.com/pbijqt

The same does not happen on prosilver, which seems there must be something with the style or an extension is causing it. :)

Again,
Bots, if included in the bots table (see ACP / system / General tasks / Spiders & robots)
are indeed listed as registered users in the online userlist, like the ones natively added (48 ca.) on a fresh install.

Them are in fact recorded both in the USERS_TABLE and BOTS_TABLE.
