Is anything lost when moving to a new host?

Maybe I'm hallucinating, but I thought I remembered there being an issue, a few years ago when I was considering a move, with moving a long-running install of phpBB to a new host. Like: all user passwords were lost in the process, and all existing users would have to go through a password reset process, maybe?

If it's done correctly are there likely to be any issues like this, or similar problems?

No. I have moved hosts several times and never lost any data. Just make sure that you have a backup of all of your data and database before you start.
