Misdirected Request Error

Post by mccorkled » Thu Oct 10, 2019 12:48 pm

Hey everyone. super new to running a forum. I installed everything and set permissions right (I think). Some users have reported getting an error on a white pages stating

"Misdirected Request - the client needs a new connection for this request as the redirected host name does not match Server Name Identification (SNI) in use for this connection"

Thank you.

A link to your board can help.
But it sounds that it has nothing to do with phpbb but with your server.

Maybe this helps

ps. look into your cookie settings, remove the dot in front of the cookie domain and set it to secure

Thank you. There was no dot in front of my cookie name and I set it to secure. From that blog post you linked it appears that GoDaddy is to blame and they don't seem to be interested in fixing the problem. Is the second solution you posted meant to work around this issue?

I see a " ." (dot) in front of your cookiename?
.forums.welcometospacelounge.com

That not a solution for your first problem just a remark.

Did you save the setting for the secure cookie?

Your script path is showing as // and I believe it should be just / in this case.

In server settings see:
Script path: wrote: The path where phpBB is located relative to the domain name, e.g. /phpBB3

I’ve see it mentioned that some browsers will add the dot if needed, the OP’s doesn’t have a dot.

I set "Force Server URL Settings" to On. Borked my images and login though so I turned it back off.

Because you said it was showing two // and forcing the settings I could put one /

I'm very new to this.

I never mentioned forcing anything. What is the entry now in ACP> Server settings> Script path?
