Your hosts mod_security is being tripped by something. Ask them what is being flagged up for your site and get them to whitelist it.

Hi Kev,

thanks for the quick reply. Is it something I can do from CPanel myself?

Not usually.
It would be worth looking in there at the server error log though for a clue.

Well there's nothing interesting in the error log. The latest is this:

Code: Select all

[23-Oct-2019 15:45:20 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Twig\Error\LoaderError: Unable to find template "rules.html" (looked into: /home/mathimat/public_html/forum/styles/basic_orange/theme, /home/mathimat/public_html/forum/styles/basic/template, /home/mathimat/public_html/forum/styles/basic/theme, /home/mathimat/public_html/forum/styles/prosilver/template, /home/mathimat/public_html/forum/styles/prosilver/theme, /home/mathimat/public_html/forum/styles/all/template). in /home/mathimat/public_html/forum/vendor/twig/twig/src/Loader/FilesystemLoader.php:265

saying something about rules.html. Since the rules extension works that does not bother me at all! Nothing other than that. Alright, lemme ask the host about it.

You might not be able to disable all of it though.

It would also be worth fixing that rules error just in case.

Why postpone fixing something which can probably be fixed in a jiffy - all I see is that a simple txt file is not where it is expected, so uploading the file should solve that problem, no?
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Uploading perhaps? (see the Board Rules extension).

I'm back with a reply from the server:
The mod_audit.log is empty for your website.
However the error log looks like sometimes someone's trying to enumerate your publicly accessible files.
Can you please provide some steps to reproduce including actions., URL's ? Also if you face any issues from your location - please provide the public IP address so we'll check the logs as per IP.

I did some more tests and this seems to be related to the RH topic tags extension. Every time I try to add a tag to a post I get this error. If I edit the post everything goes smoothly. But what worries me is that I also get this error in the ACP from time to time. Any ideas?

More update: If I try to add a tag to an existing post this occurs with an error. If I create a post , add a tag to it , submit it and then go back and edit to add a new tag no problem!

Which version of the extension are you using? (is it compatible with php7?)
Disable the extension and check whether the problem is solved.

If I disable the extension , yes , the problem goes away. The version I'm using is this one.

So then it's an extension problem and you should probably post in the extension support topic.
For one there's perhaps an incompatibility with the latest version of phpBB, but it's more probable that the extension isn't compatible with php-version.
