Database question - editing acl_groups and acl_users

Post by nou nou »

Hello there,

I am trying to delete a couple of orphaned permissions in acl_groups and acl_users. While searching the boards I came across multiple posts saying to edit the tables, but coincidentally, I can't edit those two specifically in phpmyadmin:

Code: Select all

Current selection does not contain a unique column. Grid edit, checkbox, Edit, Copy and Delete features are not available.
Is this expected? Can I do something about it?

Thanks!

PS. this is all happening on a test board, also for learning purposes. Getting my feet wet with database editing.

EDIT: just as an aside, I'm currently working around this by exporting the table, editing it in a text editor and importing it again. Works, but would be much more convenient if I could edit it directly...

You don't show your SELECT code. Did you use * ?
This message is displayed when there is no indexed column in the result.

I just go inside phpmyadmin and click on the phpbb_acl_groups table on the left.

The SELECT code displayed is

Code: Select all

SELECT * FROM `phpbb_acl_groups` ORDER BY `group_id` DESC
Thanks for your reply!

I'm able to properly access `phpbb_acl_groups` on my local environments.
With either SELECT * FROM `phpbb_acl_groups` (the default)
and with SELECT * FROM `phpbb_acl_groups` ORDER BY `group_id` DESC.

Is your table structure like this: http://prntscr.com/qemqnw ?

I should really subscribe to my own topics... :)

That looks right, but when I click on phpbb_acl_groups (the parent, not columns or indexes) I get this on xampp:

https://prnt.sc/qi1oq2

and this on my host:

https://prnt.sc/qi1p78

So on my host I can edit (I understand this is a phpmyadmin setting somewhere) but I wonder if that is normal, because I don't see this on other tables....

Thanks!

Tried to update xampp? It is an issue with phpmyadmin less than 4.5 IIRC.

It's version 4.9.1...

I just want to know if those warnings (any of the two above) are expected, or if there's something wonky about my db structure in those tables...
