[Split] app.php in install folder not working after update

Post by WWu777 »

I have the same problem. I'm trying to update the forum to phpbb 3.2.8 now and after I upload the "install" and "vendor" folders from the automatic update package, I get this error message:

http://www.happierabroad.com/forum/install/app.php

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Any idea what to do or what's wrong?

unless you have been editing core files other than prosilver, then you should not be using the auto update package.

you really should be using the full package update method.

however, make sure you are uploading the correct vendor and install folders to the correct place.

make sure that all the files/folders inside the vendor folder are getting uploaded.

make sure you are using ftp and not your hosting control panel file manager.

Yes of course I've modified core files in the prosilver template and a few others. And I have a number of extensions too. And the automatic update package worked before. So why is it giving that weird error message now?

Also why does the install folder redirect here?

What is app.php?

Is your .htaccess the standard file from phpbb?

The redirect to app.php is since 3.2 I think, so nothing new

And I have a number of extensions too.
That has nothing to do with automatic updating, and in any event you are advised to disable extensions before an update.

Probably because of the nature of automatic updating which depends on too many factors not under your control.
BTW you should not leave your install directory present for such a long time. Sooner or later someone will start the available proces without you knowing it.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

I got it to work finally. I contacted my webhost and they whitelisted my IP and reconfigured my server. That allowed me to run the install finally. I don't know why. Very odd.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to upgrade to 3.3 now and after uploading the intall and vendor folders, I get this error when I try to view the forum:
Strict Standards: Declaration of phpbb\template\twig\lexer::tokenize() should be compatible with Twig\Lexer::tokenize(Twig\Source $source) in /home/happier2/public_html/forum/phpbb/template/twig/lexer.php on line 17 Warning: Unsupported declare 'strict_types' in /home/happier2/public_html/forum/vendor/ocramius/proxy-manager/src/ProxyManager/Proxy/VirtualProxyInterface.php on line 19 Warning: Unsupported declare 'strict_types' in /home/happier2/public_html/forum/vendor/ocramius/proxy-manager/src/ProxyManager/Proxy/LazyLoadingInterface.php on line 19 Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ':', expecting ';' or '{' in /home/happier2/public_html/forum/vendor/ocramius/proxy-manager/src/ProxyManager/Proxy/LazyLoadingInterface.php on line 58
Does that mean overwriting the vendor folder caused this and that I should delete the vendor folder first, before uploading it? Before it was always ok to just overwrite the vendor folder. What about this time?

Update, now when I go to the install folder, I get this:
You are running an unsupported PHP version. Please upgrade to PHP 7.1.3 or higher before trying to install or update to phpBB 3.3
However, I checked my PHP verison in WHM and it says my PHP version is 7.1. So why does it say that?

Do not use the autoupdate package.

Because the message is right, as it says. Minimum is 7.1.3 ;)

What's wrong with auto update package?

I did have PHP 7.1. I had to change it to 7.3 to get it to work.

Now when I try to download the changed files, I get this error message:
Information
Unable to guess the mime type as no guessers are available (Did you enable the php_fileinfo extension?)
What does that mean? What do I do?
