You may have to convert to phpBB 3.0 first then upgrade.

When i use that conservator (Could not find path to your former board. Please check your settings and try again.» ../community was specified as the source path.)

Perhaps because it's a vB5, that convertor is for vB4. Perhaps you should try to contact the author of the convertor to find out whether he is working on, or has already made something which can convert vB5.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Are you sure everything is correct?
database name and username are the same? password? the relative path (one down and then 1 up?)
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
