Converted from SMF - Admin shows There Are No Forums on This Board

Post by eggplant »

Converted from SMF and guest view is OK - but logged in as the main admin shows "There Are No Forums on This Board"

I've checked permissions and reset them again and again
Permissions mask show things are set correctly
Any ideas?

Give the admin read permissions to the forums.
Or make yourself a moderator (with moderator permissions for the forums)

Thanks.
This permissions system is fiendishly unfriendly for conversions - it would so much better if you could "set all forums to nnn for group xxx" .
Then you could apply that and individually edit the few you wanted different.
But no, I have to select 30 dropdowns, times 4 user types, to get it ok - that's 120 clicks that could be reorganised to about 12.

Yes. That is what you do.
Edit one forum's permissions the way you want it, then copy to the other forums.

That's what makes the roles so useful: think about the permissions you want to give a group in a forum = and create a role. Then you can select that group and just assign that role in the forums (of your choice). It looks a bit confusing at first but after creating 2 roles you'll see how useful that is.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Still it could be made easier.

@Eggplant: How did you convert, what convertor tool did you use?

Dit you encounter any of the issue's like mentioned here?
viewtopic.php?f=561&t=2444941

Or other things, except for the permissions?

By the way...I did not encounter the admin permission problem you had.
