IPB v4.2.9 to PhpBB 3.2.2

Post by avstu »

Is there a converter with a guide on how to convert from IPB v4.2.9 to phpBB 3.2.2 without me losing any information?

My ipb forum: www.avillafan.com/forum

My new install of phpBB: www.avillafan.com/forums

Once converted I would like to also rename my phpbb folder to 'forum'

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for your reply. I looked at this myself but I can't seem to get it to work.

Sadly I think I am going to have to look at alternative forum software as the support here is very poor it has to be said.

Can you explain what you mean by not being able to get it to work? Did you follow the method Ger used ie: IPB to phpBB Ver 3.0.12 first?

I followed what he said but when I press submit on the convert page I just get a red box at the top of the conversion page and nothing happens regardless of what i do or change.

Support here is carried out by volunteers, all on different time zones, if there happens to be no-one around that can answer your query it’s just a matter of being patient. And, it’s all free so you can’t really knock that. I suggest you drop Ger a PM - he’s very knowledgable on such matters, he may well help you in this topic if you ask nicely ;) Thinking about it could it be because of the IPB versions?

That might just be the case. I've done a conversion from IPB 3.4 to phpBB 3.0.12 to phpBB 3.1.10 to phpBB 3.2.1
That very first step is already different since you are a major version higher with you IPB installation. I really have no idea about the IPB 4.x database or code, so I'm afraid I cannot really help you out here.
