Strange SQL error while updating 3.0.11 --> 3.2.5

Post by EXEMOK » Fri Feb 08, 2019 8:12 am

Column didn't exists. Database is big - phpbb_posts is about 6million entries.

General Error:SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]Table 'testforum_2/#sql-ib1388' already exists [1050]SQLALTER TABLE `phpbb_posts` ADD COLUMN `post_visibility` tinyint(3) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL in file ...../www/phpbb/db/driver/driver.php on line 997BACKTRACEFILE: (not given by php)LINE: (not given by php)CALL: installer_msg_handler()FILE: [ROOT]/phpbb/db/driver/driver.phpLINE: 997CALL: trigger_error()FILE: [ROOT]/phpbb/db/driver
When run it manually from phpmyadmin:
SQL query:

ALTER TABLE `phpbb_posts` ADD COLUMN `post_visibility` tinyint( 3 ) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL

MySQL said: Documentation
#1050 - Table 'testforum_2/#sql-ib1388' already exists
mysql> check table phpbb_posts;
+--------------------------------------+-------+----------+----------+
| Table | Op | Msg_type | Msg_text |
+--------------------------------------+-------+----------+----------+
| testforum_2.phpbb_posts | check | status | OK |
+--------------------------------------+-------+----------+----------+
1 row in set (12 min 19.40 sec)
PS. If update failed - when I fix the problem - would update continue from moment where it failed or it will start from the beginning?

I have no idea, but with such a large board, I really suggest doing it in stages: going to 3.0.14 first (that is relatively fast), then 3.1.12, and then 3.2.5.

This is to avoid having to redo the whole thing IF something goes wrong.
Is this using the graphical update interface or CLI?
A bug is a feature that hasn't made it to the manual (yet)

Tried to run from cli. The same error. Let's try to do it from fresh install

Do 3.1.0 before 3.1.12 to be sure.

And only use the cli for the 3.2.12 to 3.2.5 step!

What the reason we have updater 3.0.x => 3.2.5 that doesn't work?

The updater works perfect but not on a board with a (very) big database.
