CSS changes not showing

Post by Jencathen1 » Mon Mar 12, 2018 2:48 am

First I did try to use the generator and I hit next step at the end of filling in everything and it was wiped out.

I have phpBB 3.0
Host: Ipower.com
MySQL: Version: 5.6.32
Level of expertise: Novice
website url: http://hennegar.ipower.com/phpBB/index.php

Extensions: Board3 Portal, WoWext Footer Links, Recent Topics
Styles: Prosilver and PBWOW3

I edited the Colour.css files to change the color of the headings from White to Green. The changes are not showing.
I made sure I had the right folder permissions and they are 777.
I purged cache using my host tool, the phpBB admin cp, and my browser.
I made sure that Recompile stale style components was enabled.
I have scoured the internet for hours trying everything that I could find as a solution and I still do not see the changes I made. When I check the file the changes are there that I made.
I'm lost as what I should do next.

Please re-check your version. According to your board the version is 3.2 and you report 3.0 which we no longer support. Please fill out the Support Request Template and post it back here to enable us to assist you better.

@Mick. About the support template, I indicated in my original post that I tried to do that. I looked up everything and put it all in and then I went to the end and hit Next and all the information that I put in it was wiped. I wasn't about to repeat all that for it to happen again. Sorry!. :(

I have tried all the ways to update to 3.2.2 and I haven't been able to do it. I contacted my host provider for assistance and they will not do it. I have no idea why since it was through their tool that I got phpBB 3.0. That is super frustrating.

I tried the auto update file from 3.2.0 to 3.2.2 I tried to just uploading the changed files like the directions say was another method. I tried doing the full package and nothing worked.
Here is the server information:

SERVER INFORMATION
Configuration for www.ipower.com
CGI Active
Document Root /home/users/web/b1319/ipw.hennegar
FrontPage Extensions No
Logs https://www.ipower.com/controlpanel/LogFiles.bml
Platform Type Debian
MySQL Version 5.6.32
Perl Version 5.8.8
PHP Version 5.6

I have some PEAR modules too, but I have no idea what they are or what they do.

@Mannix. I stepped away from the computer (due to being super frustrated) for about 4 hours and when I came back I saw the changes that I made were in effect. I have no idea why it took so long. It has never taken that long before.

I appreciate all of you responding.

Blame your browser cache for that. Next time you do changes and they don't seem to be applied look up your site in incognito mode of your browser :)

you should purge the cache after any changes you make to the style files.
or, if you are making a lot then in the admin panel, main page, left menu at the bottom, load settings.
set "recompile stale style settings" to yes. submit.
refresh your browser.
now, changes will take affect instantly and all you have to do is refresh your browser to see them.
