Template inherit problem

Post by skouf » Tue Mar 05, 2019 4:04 pm

Hello

I am trying to create a new theme and inherit some templates files.

So I found this link : https://www.phpbb.com/styles/create/ and I followed the Template inheritance chapter.

Under the styles/ folder, I created a new template called "roparis"

Here is the content of my style.cfg

Code: Select all

# General Information about this style
name = roparis
copyright = © ROP
style_version = 3.2.5
phpbb_version = 3.2.5

# Defining a different template bitfield
# template_bitfield = //g=

# Parent style
# Set value to empty or to this style's name if this style does not have a parent style
parent = prosilver
I create the template forlder where I put viewtopic_body.html.

I add some text in it to test if it is displayed.
I install the template via the PCA, clear the cache.

I go to the frontend of my forum, and I display a topic. But I don't see the text I just added.

The only way to see my changes is to click on the Preview link of my new style. The URL of my forum comes now with a ?style=7.

What am I missing with template inheritance ?

Thanks for your help

you have to have more than just a html file in your new style.
you will need to have the css as well.

also, did you actually choose this new style in your profile?
or did you set override user style to yes?
I would make sure that is set to no and then go to your personal profile and choose your new style . then purge the cache and then test.

Yes I have the CSS files.

And OK I didn't know that I had to change user preferences. I will have to find the place where I override the template for all users.

Thanks for your answer !

ACP => general => Board settings => Override user style:
Replaces user’s (and guest’s) style with the style as defined under "Default style". => yes
