Resizing the display of avatars in prosilver

Post by Paul Arden » Wed Jun 05, 2019 1:01 pm

Hi,

I'm sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find it. I've revived an old discussion board that was ikonboard, converted to phpbb2 and is now phpbb3.2. I had quite a bit of help from vHiker - thank you very much!! Everything is working as it should, all apart from the display of the avatars. No doubt this is because when they were originally uploaded there was no size constraint. You can see an example here: http://sexyloops.co.uk/archivedboard/vi ... =3&t=15062

I would like to change the display so that they display to a max of 90px wide and 90px height. I imagine that I have to change some code in viewtopic_body.html and common.css ?

Many thanks,
Paul
it's all about to happen..

admin panel, avatar settings.

set the max dimensions that you require.

if that doesn't work, open content.css for your style. around line 740 you can change the max width for this:

Code: Select all

.postprofile .avatar img {
	display: block;
	height: auto !important;
	max-width: 100%;
}

Download them and you can use Irfanview to batch resize them. Upload them back o the server. Images will be cached so you will need to refresh browser to see changes.

Brilliant thank you!

I had to adjust .postprofile .avatar as well...

Code: Select all

.postprofile .avatar {
	display: block;
	float: left;
	max-width: 90px;
}

.postprofile .avatar img {
	display: block;
	height: auto !important;
	max-width: 90px;
}
A batch resize of images in the folder would work too!

Many thanks,
Paul

Don't understand why you are talking about changing any CSS to show avatars as 90x90px in posts?

Just go into the Admin CP and set avatar size listed under attachments as 90px x 90px for both min and max size. Then people can only use 90px square avatars uploaded, which will all be shown that size in posts as well.

That has no effect on existing avatars, only newly uploaded ones.

Was just looking which I should of done before, the avatars have a size attribute in the HTML so resizing by itself will not help. You would still need to set the max width/height. Resizing them would only prevent unnecessarily large files.
