Username Coloured

Post by ProbablyRaging » Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:51 am

Looking for a bit of help with my current issue. I am trying to create a rainbow affect for some usernames with his code:

Code: Select all

@keyframes rainbowanimate {
0% {
    filter: hue-rotate(-360deg);
}
100% {
    filter: hue-rotate(360deg);
}
}

.username-coloured {
    background-image: url(https://i.imgur.com/M4imw07.gif), linear-gradient(90deg,#f00 0%,#29ff00 100%,#fff);
    background-clip: border-box;
    -webkit-background-clip: text;
    -webkit-text-fill-color: transparent;
    color: #FF512F;
    font-weight: 700;
    text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #727309;
    animation: rainbowanimate 5s infinite linear;
}
I have replaced .username-coloured in both '/adm/admin.css/' and 'styles/my-theme/theme/stylesheet.css' with the code above but the only place it is working is in ACP as shows in this screenshot http://prntscr.com/o0dzm6 but it will not work on the actual forum. Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

I have purged my cache to see if it would take affect but it didn't.

TIA

Strange outcome, if I put a '-' in front of 'styles/my-theme/theme/stylesheet.css' it seemed to have worked and now the usernames changed.

EDIT: Nevermind, this broke my forum :lol:

Hello, what happens when you create your own classes: Here now without any animation(!) --> test, test.
Example: link.css or custom.css

Code: Select all

.postprofile a.username {
	font-weight: bold;
	text-decoration: none;
	background-image: linear-gradient(to right, #FF0000, #ED773E, #FFCE00, #008000, #0000FF, #4B0082, #EE82EE);
	-webkit-background-clip: text;
	-webkit-text-fill-color: transparent;
	color: transparent;
}

Code: Select all

.postprofile a.username:hover {
	text-decoration: underline;
	color: #0074E8;
}
I think that might work.

Best regards

Sorry, I am unsure what you are asking me to do here. Do you want me to test that code in link.css and custom.css and report back what happens?

:cry: Hm, here it works (viewtopic.html) ... in the first attempt to address without further classes. Did you clear all caches?

Maybe someone else knows more and has time. A first approach is done, I think. Sorry ...

I did clear cache, yes. I also mentioned it worked perfectly fine in ACP just not anywhere else, altohugh..

I think I got it working now but strangely I had to rename stylesheet.css to something random and then rename it back to stylesheet.css again and for some reason that worked, no purge needed. Not sure if that a server or phpbb issue but seems to all be sorted now, thanks.

While I am here, now that my username is now a rainbow I would like the forum legend to show that a rainbow username is a staff member, how can I make the legend 'Administrator' text also rainbow? Where is that stored? http://prntscr.com/o0h8rk

More likely your web browser's cache. You need to F5 or Ctrl-F5 to reload stylesheets.

Yes it is working you probably had still seen the cached version that's why you didn't see the changes you've made. The group color is set in the acp user and groups manage groups and then click settings on a groups you want to edit there you can select a colour for a group but i don't know if it possible to make it rainbowy.

I was more hoping to find how to edit it in it's file as I would like to add a different stile to each different group instead of .username-coloured (all coloured names). If possible, I just can't find where the file is that determines these things.

It reads the value that was set up in acp non of the css file handle the group colours. The groups would have to have a class that you could adjust in a css files but at the moment they don't have that.
