I enjoy watching the track events. I use to run track so it's fun to watch and see what times they get. Bloody amazing how fast they are.

lol. Some people think 12/21/2012 is the end of the world because that's supposedly when the Mayan calendar ends. Silly people.

I plan on recording the swimming competition and the rowing competition...only because I once did both.

Then I'll watch them at my leisure. ;)

The opening ceremony will probably be quite something... it is mainland China's "coming out party" after all. I'm actually surprised you actually managed to get a visa to visit the country what with the changes since the incidents in Tibet. :P

Do you know how many times the Gregorian calendar has been adjusted or tweaked over the years? There is the Mayan calendar, the Jewish calendar, the Islamic calendar, the Chinese calendar, the Hindu calendar... the date 08-08-08 is a coincidence of numbers, nothing more.
Of course, you're right. But it can make for some interesting discourse sometimes, yes?

By the way, the calendar in Japan changes when a new emperor is crowned -- or whatever they call it when the new fella sits in the Number One Chair -- Throne. Now it's the Heisei calendar. The last one, Showa, lasted for quite a bit of time.

Yep, just for the table talk. Parlor talk. Whatever.

The thing about dates is, they keep flipping over. The day came and went past by. Now people will look onto new things of interest to talk about. ;)

On Friday I'll be picking up my paycheck, but that's about it. It's not a big deal to me at all, but it is a little amusing I suppose. The few of these dates that fall in the 2010s will be better - no leading zeros. I'll say right now that 11/11/11 is already a favorite :P

Well, I'm not sure about any of you, but 08/08/08 is over in some parts of the world and I seem to still be very much alive.

That makes two of us. Perhaps too early to tell. But, the Mountain Dew is in the fridge, pizza will be ready at 8:00 (well, pm), and that's my chief concern ATM.

I hear the Aussies around here are already into tomorrow. Maybe us Americans will be the only ones wiped out?

Actually, its when the Mayan Calendar is reset to the beginning. :P

I thought it was cool how the Olympics started at 08/08/08 08:08. :D that was kinda neat.

Name it 'coincidence' ;)

BTW, they were late on this by a bunch of seconds, AFAIK. This was really bad I could guess. 8-)
