That's good news and the only sensible thing they could do with that.

Once I realized what that clause implied :o I instantly stopped using Chrome.

A multi-billion dollar company where the legal department does EULAs via copy and paste as an act of kindness, to avoid confusing users?

Latest statcounter scores show that Chrome did start off pretty well - gained a 1% market share in the first day - but lost some of that later in the next two days. That's pretty obvious because lots of people tried and tested it but then reverted to their older browsers which they were already using.

I think Chrome lacks a huge plugin base that is extremely important if google really intends to beat FireFox. But I'm sure they know that which is why they made it open-source so that others can come and contribute to it. I think it's a good move from Google. They didn't really have to do anything to stir things up in the Browser market. And might not have to do a lot to make this one a popular browser either. Lots of people have already used and tested it. They're just waiting for something new and innovative to come forward from it and astound them.

They (me in first person) are waiting some bugs to be fixed/released first, the innovative stuffs are already brought I can say.. see velocity (outstanding) and some others ..

Ofcourse a huge database of plugins will complete that 'piece of cake', indeed. ;)

Does Chrome provide an auto-updater like Firefox, or must you do it yourself?

there are rumors saying, google chrome will blow away IE and even FireFox
well, I don't think IE will be blow away
since MS OS only has IE as its stock browser
how about firefox and opera?
well, I personally think not now, but certainly will become a very potent opponent in the future

chrome is still in its very early stage
but google does has the potential to make it as one of the most popular browser in the next 3-5 years.

1 quick notes:
i don't really like chrome because

it is like IE8, yes IE8
the overall is pretty "small", but the appearance, somehow is really similar to IE

personally i don't like having too many browsers
for my own projects, i have to test on IE6, IE7, FF2, FF3, Safari on Mac, Safari on Windows, Opera, Maxthon, Greenbrowser, and now I have to do chrome, too
although maxthon, GB are IE-core-based, but I still have to make several tests.

so, if you are asking me "you like chrome?"
i will say, no, I would rather to stick with Firefox for now
maybe in the future
