Firefox 3.5 Beta 3 is out!!

Post by QueeenZ »

Finally!! I've been waiting since december 2008 for this beta. I can't wait to test the new TraceMonkey and all new features. It's so much faster, it's definitely the best browser out there and there's no way you can disagree with me on this one unless you like Opera or Konqueror better than Firefox. I mean c'mon how can you like anything better than Firefox

Tested: Chrome vs IE8 vs Firefox 3.1 vs Safari 4 - Winner: Firefox
Microsoft says, IE8 beats Firefox and Chrome
"As recently proposed, the version number of the Shiretoko project will be changed to Firefox 3.5 before the upcoming fourth beta release," said Mike Beltzner, Mozilla's director of Firefox, in a brief entry on the company's developer blog.
The name change has been under discussion for several weeks, prompted in part by calls from developers who thought that the "3.1" moniker didn't properly reflect the amount of new features and changes from last June's Firefox 3.0.
Download: Firefox 3.5 Beta 3

Cheers!

I like Firefox. And I'm glad it's a winner!!! I think FF is the most useful browser.

I wonder if the next Ubuntu release (Jaunty Jackalope) will have this new FF version.
Don't tell "it won't, FF 3.5 is still beta", since my current version of Ubuntu (8.04) came with FF 3.0 beta 5 who's now at its 3.0.6 version. So it isn't impossible that we see 3.5 included in Jaunty even if the final version isn't released yet.

And by the way, Firefox is my favourite browser since its 1.0 pre-release version and is hard to beat with its huge extensions database.

Ubuntu 9.04 has Firefox 3.0 by default but you can install 3.1.

Yep - it's not ultra-fast and super-stable (in my experience) but it's enough and the extensions really make it superior to everything else. I cannot even surf on computers which do not house my personalized Firefox anymore...

Yeah I love the new coding possibilities that are offered by Firefox 3.5. I wish they would make their ogg streaming better though. Its really plain.

Spell checker, new tab button next to last tab, bug fixes, much improved Gecko rendering engine.

There are probably about 1000 more, just some of the major ones for me. :)

Firefox is faster than other browser until you start installing extensions, Webkit tends to handle plugins a lot better, maintaining a faster speed regardless of what you have running on it. :)
To me, Firefox and Webkit are equals, I could not live without either one, and both supplement each-other quite well. :D
Webkit for speed, Firefox for debugging and control.
