Since today the German phpbb support board on http://www.phpbb.de/community/ isn't free anymore. And it isn't possible to watch topics. Now you have to pay money.

I just wanna say, that this is a big big shit from the German MOD-Team!

Read this agreements:
3. Restriktionen

Ohne Sondergenehmigung sind Sie nicht berechtigt,
...
- Auf diese Nutzungsvereinbarung an einem anderen Tag als dem ersten April hereinzufallen
Nice idea!

Greets,
Niklas

Everything should be back to normal[0]. It's already 02.04.2008 in Germany (UTC+1 +DST).

Edit: Support at phpBB.de is of course free. :-)

I don't know, but I guess I am no reference because I don't need any help with customizing/installing/modifying a phpBB anyways. :ugeek:

At least most interestingly, most people went for trying the cheapest package (read access to the forum, Mod Database and Knowledge Base for 1 € / month), so they were careful in trying...

And we have to hide our I-found-out-about-the-joke-and-want-direct-access link somewhere else next time, that is the next big group, basically as big as the first.

Some people seemed to like the concept of a support phone number, at least the regular forum access was the least popular package we had... :D

TBH, I just clicked on a link at random, and I think it was the 1 Euro/month option. :)

I guess they have to decide that for themselves...
phpBB.de is "known" (at least among members who have been around for a few years) for having had some rather "shocking" April fools days.

For example last year we had the user download a "trojan from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior" before being able to access the site (this was basically a hint to a law that was passed basically allowing the german police to use trojans to spy on suspects and that wasn't too popular).
The year before that, all posts Authors were "lost" due to an "error" while working on the database (something like

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_posts SET author_id = -1 WHERE 1
:) ) and we had the user reassign their posts to themselves (obviously they were able to "steal" posts from other people).

Who knows what is comming next year? :)
