Not completely true if you think that there are users that joined many years ago with less than 5 posts but in need to PM those users for a reason or another.

Perhaps a condition in the code that relates to the joining date too?

Then that one can simply make 4 or 5 more posts

I think it would be understandable enough for a user to not be able to PM until four or five posts, it isn't that hard anyway. Forums are for participating, not for a social network.

Many people asked, what possible scenario could cause this..

Well, here's what happend to me.

I registered on the board to post my MOD (a long time ago). I made 1 post. Now people PM me about it and I can't reply.

You're right, that it's not hard to make 4 more posts, I was kinda hoping this thread will help me

, but turns out this section is not counted. So, I'm off to spam some more.

Hmm, at the end of all I think this measure it's a wrong stuff.
