New year = happy spamming time

Post by lampcms.com » Mon Jan 04, 2010 9:29 pm

How many spammy 'happy new year from XYZ company' have you received around holiday times?
The X-Mas, New year is such a great excuse to send spammy reminder from all sorts of companies and websites on which you have ever registered. It's so funny to receive happy new year emails from various merchants, like they expect me to beleive that they really mean to with me a happy new year.

Of all the sites/communities I run/am involved with, there is only one that I sent a 'Merry Christmas and Happy New Year' email to all members, and that is a pretty close knit community so it wasn't spam.
The reason I didn't send them for the others is exactly what this thread is about, that they are just spam, I hate to receive them so would be a hypocrite if I sent them.

A simple Happy New Year post on the forum is ample as far as I am concerned.
