Oh goodie, higher resolution phone-porn?

I find it interesting how the Droid has the most expandability with regards to storage. Certainly makes it a viable contender for multimedia, especially since you can carry multiple MicroSD cards at once and swap between them at will.

Now just one more question to ponder. Apple’s closed app store, or the Android market. :?
You use Verizon, don't you? If so, you wouldn't be able to anyway. Regardless of unlocking or anything else, you'll never be able to use a GSM phone (the iPhone) on a CDMA network (Verizon).
god0fgod wrote:Is it slimmer at the fattest point or is it slimmer on average?
The dimensions are typically based on the largest dimensions, so it would be slimmer at the fattest point. That being said, without the tapered edges, I would agree that it appears to be slightly larger.

That sounds great in theory but given you have to remove the battery to access the MicroSD card in the Droid, it wouldn't work so well.

Glass on the front and the back of the phone? I can already see a lot of people breaking their iPhones. Great way to make more money. :)

You can't see 78 micrometer pixels? Well, maybe Steve Jobs can't, but normal people can. As always, they are slightly exaggerating. Nevertheless, they finally were able to equip the iPhone with a better display than the crappy one they had in there.

The 5 Megapixels of the camera doesn't tell anyone how good it actually works. I guess we'll have to take a look at the first tests. Also, why do people need a front camera? I think that is useless.

Also why do you people always want to buy a phone before having seen it in real life. Have you read any tests that make it better than the iPhone 3GS or other smartphones around? Did you already have one in hand?
I doubt that. I tend to test phones before buying them, especially if it is a phone that is as expensive as an iPhone.

Ditto, as soon I can (pre-)order one I'll be doing so :)
Now we only need to wait until July :-(
They are already selling it in the US.
No.
Pre-ordering starts at June 15th and they go for sale on the 24th of June. Which is still a month ahead of us.
Oppps I saw order now...it was pre-order now. :)

6 days left for the pre-ordering.

Basically cause I've been planning on getting one since the first gen, but never could afford one. Now I think its just silly to get a 3GS with 4 almost shipping, if 4 turns out to be really really bad one can still get the 3GS ;).

Highway of Life, developers LOVE the closed app store. It's pretty difficult to pirate/hack stuff. And every app you download WILL work, guaranteed.

Btw Flash Lite sucks.

I've been using iOS4 for a week or two on the iPhone 3GS and it runs very well. To be honest, unless the videoconferencing/HD video features in the iPhone 4 are particularly attractive to you the 3GS gets the job done just fine, at a much lower cost.

I've been talking to a couple people (on IRC) at WWDC who have used they phone. From what they've been saying it is well worth the extra money over the 3GS, it's loads faster and the screen and camera = 0.o

Remember, Apple has full control over the app store, and it can yank apps at any time and force the developer to give a full refund for the app, while Apple still makes its profit off of the app (read: the developer pays more in the refund than they made off of the sale).

If you have a look at this photo I believe that apart from the 3GS being bigger, it looks even bigger than it actually is. So I would have to disagree a bit on the 'it looks large'. But again that is my personal opinion.

From Engadget:
Engadget.com wrote:The screen is truly outrageous -- you basically cannot see pixels on it. We're not being hyperbolic when we say it's easily the best looking mobile phone screen we've ever laid eyes on.
marc1706 wrote:Also, why do people need a front camera? I think that is useless.
Have a look at this video. If you also consider applications like Skype, I think a front camera really has potential.

But apart from all my "Look this is a brilliant device" talk, I do agree with you that you should first wait for reviews. In my country it will be in July when the iPhone arrives, so that means that all American sites have already published there reviews.

But the only thing which could prevent me from buying the phone, if it turns out in the reviews, that the iPhone camera is rubbish, the build quality sucks and that reception is bad. Because I'm already convinced regarding the software, and yes I tried it on my friends iPhone, and I really like the new design.

The software is also the main reason why I'd prefer the iPhone, over Android/Windows Phone 7/Black Berry/Palm.

To achieve the highest resolution discernible by the human eye, the iPhone would need a resolution of 1060 ppi, or roughly 3200 X 2100 pixels! My 23-inch iMac has a resolution of just 1920 X 1200. So if you could shrink my computer display to the size of an iPhone display, you'd still need to triple its resolution to match the perceptual power of the human retina.
http://wordmunger.com/?p=1348

But would you need to move the screen to fill your view for that to be true. You will look at the screen from a distance which might make Apple right, or closer than this article suggests.

Or if it "offends" people. There's no real reason necessary, they've removed Google's own apps on a whim when it meant AT&T or Apple itself was losing a smidge of profit.

A - well duh, against the NYtimes ToS, or something like that. It's back now anyway.
B - Pointless! They should never have been let in
C - That app should never have been let in in the first place.

I agree with all those removals, and would have done so myself, too.
