"I mean who wouldn't want extra security,speed and much better performance ?"

Its a matter of opinion if that is so and from what i have seen different tests and diferent testers say diferent things . I like it and i use it . I dont like other browsers and i dont use them unless i ahave no choice = unless i want to get into my router . Its also a matter of opinion if its a mater of opinion . But thats my opinion . I apreciate your opinion to .

jesschen All my addons work . A lot of addon makers have updated their addons to work with FF4 . If yours dont work you should first try to use the "Check for updates" function . If some dont get updated you can try any or all of three things but some times i`ve had to restart a couple of times before they work ---->

! - Open Firefox and on the address bar (url bar) write about:config and hit enter . Then copy these one at a time into the filter box ----->
extensions.checkCompatibility
extensions.checkUpdateSecurity
set both to false by double clicking on them with the left mouse button and then restart .
( While your there you could try this one to get FF going faster too -------->
browser.turbo.enabled
set to true . I dont know if it still works but it used to . )

If that doesnt work ----->

2 - Install "Nightly tester tools" and it gives an option to make addons that dont / wont work work .

IF that doesnt work you could try ----->

3 - Lots of the ones that dont work only dont work because the maximum version stated in their install.rdf files in the extensions folder in the firefox profile folder isnt high enough . One can open those files by changeing the ending to txt and then just writeing a biger number in them . They look like this inside ---->

<!-- Firefox -->
<em:targetApplication>
<Description>
<em:id>{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}</em:id>
<em:minVersion>3.5</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>4.0b8pre</em:maxVersion>

I just change mine to ---->

<!-- Firefox -->
<em:targetApplication>
<Description>
<em:id>{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}</em:id>
<em:minVersion>3.5</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>5.0</em:maxVersion>

To ( try to ? ) get FF going faster i use "SpeedyFox 1.6" and "Firetune 1.2.0" .

If anyone has any comments , better ideas and / or critic on that i`d apreciate hearing them.

Used firefox for a long long time. However it became so memory consuming I started to look for something else. A friend of mine suggested me to look into chrome, and wow, what a difference. Incredibely "light" browser. It isn't flawless, but the few minor problems are compensated by multiple pluses of this incredible tool.

Developers have inspired by Google Chrome and they want to release major versions more often with less changes. It is all about marketing, Chrome is in version 14 right now and it looks better then Firefox 4.1 for people.

It isn't because it looks better. I believe it's because they can update the rendering engine and not maintain backwards compatibility sooner.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=678775

Now Mozilla wants to remove the version number from the about box like Chrome does...
Asa Dotzler [:asa] 2011-08-13 19:27:38 PDT

When a user opens the About window for Firefox, the window should say something like "Firefox checked for updates 20 minutes ago, you are running the latest release."

It is important to say when the last check happened and ideally to do the check when the dialog is launched so that time is very near and to drop the version and simply tell them they're on the latest or not.

If a user needs the full version information they can get it from about:support.
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla. ... 92c02be934
The justification is simple. We're removing the Firefox version number
from all of the common user-visible locations because we don't believe
that users need to know what version they're on. We're moving to a model
that's more like the Web. What version of Gmail are you on?

We've removed it from all of our marketing materials. We're removing it
from the download button on the Website. We're removing it from how we
talk to users about Firefox. We're ending version numbers because
they're not meaningful to users (except in troubleshooting situations.)

People using Firefox do need to have confidence that they're on the
latest version, though, and that's what this feature provides. Telling
the user explicitly that Firefox has checked and that she is indeed up
to date is a much better way of letting the user know that she's up to
date than giving her a number she can compare with some other number on
a website somewhere to figure out if she's on the latest version.

I like this change and I wish Microsoft would implement it for IE too.

Enterprise clients may not like it because before releasing update to their users, IT departments need to check if all internal stuff works with it. But solution is simple: don't write buggy code, don't use ancient technologies and you won't have to worry about it not working with updated browser.

Well, chrome is like a stripped-down firefox, not much to see there.

There's 3 reasons i like to stick to Firefox actually.
  • Zend studio debug toolbar
  • Firebug
  • i'm used to it.
