Well, according to Big-Boards.com, 500,000 is a big board. These days though I'd have to say 1 million is a "big board", at least compared to some boards out there. ;)

I've personally considered 500,000 posts and 1,000 members to be a large board.

I'd say around 250000 posts. If not, 500000 posts.

I would say that trying to obtain an objective measure from a subjective term is futile.

As you can already see, not one person has agreed as to what "big" is. Big-boards is probably the best way to determine, "have I made it?" in terms of being relevant as a popular bulletin board/forum/message board... Of course having a large board does not guarantee continuity in your success, but it sure helps.

It really depends on how long the forum has been up for

I'd say half a million posts is big :)

The most I've ever managed is 10,000 but 2,000 of them were me :(

Mine has 300.000 posts. Maybe in 2-3 more years I will get there.

2,000 out of 10,000 posts by you? Means 1/5 is from you! That's great!

Well, I think half a million is enough for a forum so that it will consider as a big board!
Totally agree !!

I guess when you have 500 active members and around 50,000 posts/threads. i would call that a big forum, as most forums now dont have a great start.
