User posted base64 of malware

Post by Jim Dominic »

So a user who has a case of ransomware on their machine decided to post the email that infected their system, along with the base64 encoding of the payload. I deleted the post on the grounds that posting the base64 violated rules against posting malware and/or viruses. Was I being overzealous or was I justified?

I would say: Your Board, your rules, your delete button ;)

I would have moved the post, as nobody knows when looking up such a pattern would be useful again.
