Jack will complain that this is so '98, but the task-bar's just auto-hidden (right click -> properties).

Minimalism all the way, dawg. 8)

my desktop is messy. Everytime i clean it up it just becomes a mess again. Making templates for people all the time just does this to me. I hate having to sift through 10 files to save somthing so alot of stuff stays on my desktop.

The desktop of my latest-purchased machine . My desktops get cluttered very quickly :( But then again, this laptop is called 'workhorse' for a reason.

I never really understood the fetish for "clean" or nearly clean desktops. It seems to me that the computer is easiest to use when there's a balance struck between the number of useful tools in open view and the desire for a "clean" (I prefer the word "barren") desktop.
Freedom of speech is not absolute, nor was it ever meant to be. If it were, then fraud would not be illegal.

My deskop is only clean like that because I hate a deskop with a plethora of icons. However, that is not to say that the icons are fully hidden. First, on my right is a menubar containing all the shortcuts from the folder 'shortcuts' on my deskop.

All my files and such that I use the most will be under 'Programs', where you'll find such catagories as 'Installs', 'Digital', 'Lightwave', etc. Then its sub-organised; for example, under Digital, you've got 'Images' (i.e. Digital Pics I've taken with my digital camera), and 'Movies' (i.e. taken with my digital camcorder).

Since windows allows you to select a folder/file by typing the first few letters of it, It allows me to navigate to items in about 3 seconds, which is probibally the same time it would take someone to locate an Icon on a deskop with a few hundred on them ;)

Its not really a 'fetish', its just being really organised. Plus, it leaves more room for the deskop pic!
