Mobile app for a phpBB forum

Post by veerendra » Mon Feb 25, 2019 8:28 am

Greetings everybody,

I want to redevelop [removed] in the latest version of php BB. After redevelopment we expect 90% plus traffic on the site through mobile phones.

Please let me know if php BB is the right choice for the exercise.
If not, which forum CMS in the best for the exercise?
Also I want to make a mobile app for the same. I want a mobile app that will seamleslessly integrate the phpBB forum with the mobile phone.

Can the forum please tell me how to make a mobile app for a php BB forum?

I want to make a mobile app that will work on iphones, android phones etc.
Thanks in advance for all inputs.
Regards,
Dr. Veerendra Darakh

Such a thing does not exist: you either want a forum or a CMS.

Have you actually tried to browse this website's forums with your smartphone? It should adapt to it already.

Right now the site ---spam --- is not responsive.

What flavour of board software are you using at the moment? There *may* be a converter for it.

Right now ---spam -- is made in Drupal 6.34. I want to shift it out of Drupal 6.34 to newer mobile friendly , responsive forum.

phpBB and Wordpress forums are two that I am looking at.

I can't see a drupal to phpBB converter here but I might be missing something, you should post in the converters forum there are some knowledgable people there. Also, please don't post your board URL in every post you make, one is enough in your first post.

Edit: I found this though, take notice of the warning! I see the author mentions users so I don't know if he means posts as well.

Wordpress is a CMS package not a forum package.

I think that the first thing that you need to do is to identify what your requirements really are

What myself and my programmer want to know is how to how to go about making an app for the latest version of phpBB , the challenges and the pitfalls in making and utilization of the app etc.

You are asking in the wrong place - you need to ask on a board where apps are developed to find out what is needed and then come back here with some positive questions.

I doubt that there are many, if any, members of this board that are well versed in creating an app.

And it makes no sense to create an app if you only want a forum software which is already mobile friendly. Such as phpBB.

drupal is a cms as is wordpress
phpbb is a bulletin board /forum software.

the two are not the same at all.
use your phone to look at this board you are currently on .
it is already working on phones etc.

you do NOT need an app for this.

If your site is Drupal, the best solution is convert to a version of Drupal which is responsive. Latest version Drupal 8 is responsive. Check whether Drupal has an app for Android. If not, try WordPress. They provide apps for Android and iOS.
