Anyone use the StackPath CDN?

Post by John connor »

After some messing around with support my site loads with this CDN. Support had to change something called CORS since no CSS was parsing when I loaded my site. But now it seems I'm having a login problem and it might be cookie related.

Question: Are phpBB cookies tied to an IP address somehow? This might be an issue since I have an origin and CDN IP. Though, I never had this issue with CloudFlare. I thought it might be the cookie domain, so I temp changed it to .stackpathcdn.com in one browser and then launched another browser to try and login through the CDN but that didn't fix the issue.

Indirectly: the session is validated thru part of the IP address, as per the manual 3.2.3.3. Security settings > Session IP validation.

Although that can be disabled in the ACP. You might try setting it to None as a diagnostic.

Update.

Looks like I solved this. It was the option under Security settings called Validate X_FORWARDED_FOR header. I turned that off and now I can login.

Can someone give me a description on what that does please?

What else do you need to know that the manual doesn't explain already?

VALIDATE X_FORWARDED_FOR HEADER
This setting controls whether sessions will only be continued if the sent X_FORWARDED_FOR header is the same as the one sent with the previous request. Bans will be checked against IP addresses in the X_FORWARDED_FOR header too.

The available options are YES and NO. Choosing YES will enable the validation of the X_FORWARDED_FOR header.
