I would add that there is an argument that sitemaps are mainly intended for static pages and not dynamic ones such as phpBB.
I have not seen any evidence that a sitemap for a phpBB board has made any difference with SEO but I will accept that someone may be able to prove the point.
We use Screaming Frog. For our forum it takes about 2 days to crawl (using Max 10 consecutive "Threads" and 8gb of ram utilized) but if your forum is small (500 pages or less) you'll do it in minutes. They are free if your site is small.
Prior to this we used Microsys Sitemap Creator which gives you free 30 days and this was a good tool too, just not as user friendly as Screaming Frog.
PS: I know most here say there's no need for a sitemap for the forum but we find it gets our site pages really crawled compared to when we never had a sitemaps.
