Anyone know if PHP 8.0 will be compatible with MySQL Community Server 5.7.x, or will it only work with MySQL Community Server 8.0.x?

Wouldn’t the PHP & MySQL support sites be better places to ask?

I'll rephrase Mick's answer then.

No, but perhaps the PHP & MySQL support sites have an answer to that question.
The NO, is actually my answer (and who knows, I may be wrong).

As far as this PHP 8.0.0-dev / MySQL 5.7.25 test passes, it's compatible for the moment.

https://github.com/php/php-src/blob/php ... /UPGRADING does not mention any breaking changes to MySQLi and there is no reasoning in assuming that PHP would unsupport older clients. The version number of both softwares is coincidental. MariaDB is also unaffected, despite being on version 10 for years already.
