I've exported the email list from phpBB and I would like to scan the email addresses and IP addresses for potential spammers to "clean" the list. Does anyone know of any tools or services that could do this? I'm trying to avoid searching each individual address.
Honestly don't see a reasonable way to do that. Spammers use a mixture of email address types. Obviously things like mail.ru come up a lot but so do nonsense combinations @gmail.com, outlook.com etc etc but also just a name and some numbers. Theere isn't really a recognisable catch all format.
Registration IPs from the usual places like India, Vietnam, Russia, Ukraine, China to name but a few but if you're not careful you could easily delete a valid account.
Any accounts older than 6 months will never be returned to anyway so you're probably not solving much. Best bet might be to try and order the memberlist by website and delete the ones that look dodgy like anything mentioning pills, diets, dating, removals, medical practices, limos, SEO services, poker, casinos etc.

Thanks to some previous tips from KevC, the list is fairly clean. I have an opportunity for have them all in one place and thought it might be a good time to run it through a filter to see if I could catch any more although I could live with it as-is.
I've used stopforumspam.com and it's been very helpful, although I don't think they have any tool to scan a list. But, this is a good reminder of them and I may ask on their forum.
