Can I get a Pardon??

Post by bubbathegimp »

Being on shared hosting, I have been unable to get unzip to work.
there is a list of "Available" archive utilities in the C-Panel, But I dont have the permissions to install...

Is there a way I could "Install" 7zip so I can run a script to un archive a zip file to populate a Database??....
The file I want to use is unavailable in Tar balls....
unable to do Sudo....

Maybe you should explain what you're trying to do because that makes no sense at all.

Being on shared hosting, I am unable to use utilities such as unzip...(Unavailable)
Being in "Jail" I am unable to install archive utilities through the C-Panel..(Even though some are listed)

the SSH commands available are limited as to what I can do.

I need an alternative to unzip that I can use without needing to do a "makefile" etc..
something I can place in "My" root directory.

that way I can try to modify the script to use a different unarchive utility.
the script downloads information from a public source.
then it extracts the files, creates the tables, and populates the database..

The downloaded files are only available in Zip format.
The server doesnt support Zip, Only Tar balls....

Being on shared hosting
Maybe you should be asking your hosting company? :?

As a general courtesy it would help the community if your Subject had something to do with what you were asking.

Why do you want those things on the server?

Your host doesn't want them on there. If they find you have bypassed their 'rules' you might find they shut you down. If you want them.... upgrade your deal with the host.

But what does that have to do with getting applications installed on cpanel? Why not call it....... 'how to get apps installed on cpanel'?

A meaningful Subject will also be helpful if someone is using the phpBB Advanced Search, search.php, and uses the Search Options, particularly Search within: set to 'Topic titles only'.

Personally I find using that search option on phpBB boards one of the most powerful, and little known, to find it the topic has previously been discussed.

For example, this search will show all cPanel topics in the phpBB • Support Forums

For future reference please note that experience tells us you are more likely to get quicker help if the title is descriptive of your issue. "Hey!", "Need help", "phpBB issue!", "Urgent Help Needed", "Bug", etc, will be less conducive to a fast solution or quick attention.

Question answered despite the lack of relevant topic title so closing
