The hardest question of all... how do you get new users?

I get members mostly from my site.

w00t. 1,400 and counting.

Several have PM'ed me also. Thats a good start. I also have several members that say they will participate just to help out. We need a place to list everyones forum link and if it's ok with everyone, I guess a couple posts in one forum per day and do a different forum each day from the list. I guess we will need to be an honor group. Some may get more posts than others on certain days but everyone should get the same amount when it is all said and done.

If you miss a day, don't worry about it and just make it up some other day when you have a little extra time. Just how invloved you all want to be with is up to everyone. I guess we will see how it goes for a while. I do not know if it would be right to put all our forum links in this forum so we can throw up a page or I am open to suggestions. Thanks also to everyone who responded, it will get your forum rolling. Please, anyone have any input?

i guess we could do the email

for example i write my url in a email and email it to you, then you type yours in a reply and then forward that whole email to the next, and so and so on

I thought this was more than on topic. It really is a simple solution to help get some smaller forums rolling. It could even benefit this forum in the long run. Word of mouth is good up to a point but it only works for a few members. People post because others are posting. If you do not have any members, especially a few that are posting then no one visiting will see it as much of an opportunity.

To end this unrelated portion of posts, anyone interested, just PM me and we can share an email as the one person suggested and maybe help each other out. Theres one forum that I will not post on though. Nuff said. I'm outa here to impliment my fiendish plan of word domination on forums with 3 active posters. The forums first and who knows maybe I will go for the blog domination next.

hahaha why dont you just go straight for www domination? it would spare you the effort of trying to dominate other small things 1st...

i thought it could work to advertise at a school, or a business or somewhere, maybe even in a mall...

havent done it though just thought about it

well i guess they could come as the word spreads...

List it in the news groups, you will get all the foreign members you want or run it through one of the traffic exchanges. If you have the bandwidth it can get you new members but they usualy join but do not post much more than ads.

will do that as soon as i want to... just wanted to know how...

just want to wait for my forum to get started with more local users, then ill do that news groups thingy, but as soon as they ad, or spam or whatever on my forum, theyll be deleted...

is there a mod that deletes spammers or something? not the one that prevents them from registering, like spambot suprise, and a few others?

I remember when this board had a forum where you could show off your site. Anyone know why that was stopped? I thought it was a great way to promote your board.

that is a good question...

you can show off your forum at phpbbstyles.com, but those are only for those who modified their styles and so on...

what about us that dont know anything about editing styles, those that can only install a downloaded style...??
