I only use photoshop for graphic editing.

I tried gimp but could not stand it...that was a while ago though and it might have changed.

For web design (xhtml, php, css), I use Metapad (identical to notepad cept it allows block tabbing and multiple-undo history).
Admin ToolKit v2.1a - An Admins most helpful tool for user management. Now Supports Mass User Deletion!

User Upload ToolKit Beta - A quick and easy, 30 second-install, attachment mod. Now Supports Dynamic Thumbnails!

Well, you can add one to the count of legal copies, as I've got three. I own Photoshop 7, CS and CS2, along with Lightwave. Those are my main tools to make/edit images.

Paint

Simply because I know nothing about creating graphics, and Paint seems to do the job (in a very basic sort of way )

I have legal versions of Photo Impact 8 and Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Academic.

I find the incidence of pirated versions of photo software dramatically decreases as you go up through the age groups. Older people who ergo have the money are far more likely to have a legal version.

I have Photoshop 6 (a legal & paid for copy), which is what I used with Windows. Since switching to Linux, I've started using GIMP for most graphics work. PS will run (sort of) under crossover, but GIMP is more stable with Linux.

p.s. For those having trouble with GIMP, try right clicking when you get stuck... as that's where a lot of the tool menus are

CorelDRAW 12, it's my box of little magic tricks.
Photoshop 7
Blender

Very rarely do I use anything besides CorelDRAW. I'd try illustrator but i've gotta choose my work upgrades wisely as they don't come that often. Maybe it'll be the next one I get.

And it makes me cire that most people here are using raster imaging programs. If you're making buttons and other web interface stuff, please use a vector package. You're making things too hard on yourself.
Caution, joking on a webforum can sometimes lead to this: Video footage
