Strange MSN

Post by kevsgsm78 » Wed Feb 15, 2006 3:47 am

As anyone come across this before, last night i noticed my friends signing in & out like yoyo's

i did'nt think much of this, reboot me pc as normal and comes to sign in to messenger, it would sign in but then become frosted over (still signed in)
i could'nt work it out, so as i could'nt login i thought i'll try my brothers his ones fine.

then today while talking about a the hosts file i came across a command that should'nt have been there.

i removed the string as it looked dodgy but could not remember this.
it looked something like:

Code: Select all

127.0.0.1 messa.messenger.msn.com
Many Thanks
Kev

I've recently noticed that GAIM is constantly loosing it's MSN Messenger connection, although other services are staying connected (Yahoo, etc.).

I just wrote it off as M$ playing silly buggar, trying to screw around with anyone logged into their system with an IM client other than authentic MSN Messenger.

Maybe my conspiracy theorys were premature, and there is an actual problem with the MSN system?

This has also been happening with me recently. I use trillian with connections to msn, icq, aim and yahoo. It's actually gotten so bad, I use skype for most of my non-voice chats now.

Has anyone else come across MSN Messenger v7.0 mysteriously 'losing' all of its custom emoticons all of a sudden?

This happened to me the other night. One minute there, next gone. I went from about 30 to 0.

It bothered me. I thought I had a virus or spyware infection so I scanned and scanned and scanned with everything I had. Nothing found.

Then last night 3 different people came online asking me to send them winks. They all said the same thing as I had happen......one minute winks, next no winks :?

This is very odd............

upgrade to 7.5, or get the 8.0 beta (i have some invites if anyone wants them by the way) this is like the support forum! lol
All MOD downloads should be back now - Sorry for that and serious lack of support! - If anyone wants to take over or help with any of my MODs the offer would be apreciated as I have little time for phpBB Modding recently!

Again very sorry for not supporting these MODs recently.

@christhatsme : I don't think the mods would appreciate you saying that ;)

I haven't had any issues with my MSN, useing 7.5 w/ plus and a few other patch's. Anything worth useing in 8.0 ?

Reminds me of the time my grandparents were having probs out of my cousin using their computer to surf gay porn groups at yahoo. Apache + hosts file = very amusing custom "yahoo" errar paeges.
