Art Wolfe is a quite famous photographer, at least in the US. The Maroon Bells are said to be some of the most photographed mountains in the world. They sit at the end of a glacial valley, which gives it a distinctive "U" shape. The aspen in the fall can turn beautiful shares of amber and gold, and are set off by the green fir trees also in the area. The lake in the picture is - oddly enough - Maroon Lake, and during sunrise it can provide amazing reflections of the mountains.
This is a slighly different angle from what I normally see, so I would not bet my entire fortune (both nickles) on it being Maroon Bells. But I think the odds are quite good. If you do a google image search for Maroon Bells Colorado you will see quite a few pictures that are similar, but taken more staight-on to the mountains. The one you posted appears to be from further around the valley.
I've been there, but my pictures from those trips are not that great...
