Mobile detection with different themes

Post by Kelvin elenwo » Mon Mar 12, 2018 7:22 pm

Hi, I was wondering if there's any way to automatically detect if a user is on mobile or non-javascript enabled browser and redirect the user to a mobile theme (Artodia), while on PC or PC view the theme will be another theme (not Artodia).

Viewing phpbb on Uc mini or opera mini is really annoying. Thanks.

can you show us a screen shot of what you are talking about? I see nothing wrong with your site in its responsiveness.
it works well at all the different screen sizes.

go to this site: http://ami.responsivedesign.is
put your url in the box and check it .

what is "uc mini" or "opera mini" ?

are you actually viewing your site on a phone using whatever those are?

if those are so called "mini" browsers then why are you using them instead of a normal browser on a phone.?

its obvious, things are done differently in your country.

I viewed them on those browsers to see how my visitors will see my website on those browsers.
and it isn't cool at all, that's why I need a fix

you are right, I have no idea how things are done in your country. my question is what are those browsers? who would be using them? what phones do they work on etc.
in my limited experience with smart phones, most are either IOS or android. with either of those phones most people do not use whatever those mini browsers are. therefore, most people are not going to see what you are seeing using those browsers. I am just trying to figure out why you are worried about browsers that most people would not even be using if I am correct with that assumption.

in my country, data subscription are very expensive, as so many tend to use lite Apps that consume less data.
uc mini and opera mini are Android browsers that have no support for JavaScript, and do not support 3d transformation used for responsive menus eg: bootstrap frameworks, they also do not support gifs, they compress their assets before loading a page so they are faster than other Android phone browsers,

that's why I need to setup a mobile theme like Artodia, it works perfectly on these browsers,
since people around here use those browsers, I'd prefer to have two working styles, which detects if on that browser and redirects to a mobile page. then if on a JavaScript enabled browser, it'll load the normal style.
I do not want to use Artodia as the only style as I prefer the current style. I only want my viewers to have a pleasant view irrespective of the browser.

Try asking in styles support, you can link back to this topic if you wish.
