Post by bl4ze » Sat Nov 07, 2015 7:30 pm

Hi

I just wanted to thank all the developers for such great work, I have had issues in the past with other forums.. spammers etc with phpbb i've had a few but fixed them very quickly and easily, i've managed to fully customise my forum and themes!

If you want to see it and i'm allowed to post the link I will, ps the footer will never be removed. thanks again!

phpBB 3.1 Many Thanks. Who Can/Should We Donate To?

Post by BIABrewer » Sun Nov 08, 2015 1:15 pm

First post here. I'm not one for joining forums but really wanted to post the following...

A mate of mine hosts my forum (biabrewer.info) and until a few days ago, I had to ask him to do any backend changes as, whilst I don't think I am a computer dunce, compared to the type of people posting here, and my mate, I haven't even reached kindergarten :).

Three days ago, I managed to install phpBB 3.1 on our test site pretty much all on my own. To most of you, that might seem like nothing but to me, it is amazing. (If you look at my current site, the green one, you'll see why I am so excited!) I have added over 30 incredible extensions on the test site and for the first time I feel as though I can administer it without bothering others too much.

I have done a lot of reading and scouring of this forum and a few things worry me. The first is that some people ask questions here and many of you patiently answer them but don't even get an acknowledgement. I can't believe how many incredible extensions I have found but most posts in the discussion area seem to be from users just demanding more from those who have already so freely given. I don't get this. (On my forum we consciously have created a culture of respect which is fantastic but even there we sometimes get those demanding posts and it is a small percentage who actually chip in.)

My problem is that I would like to chip in here but am unsure as to how to go about it. I'm happy to chip in $200 immediately but do I donate it to this board or to some people that have made some amazing extensions?

The answer might be obvious to some but it is not obvious to me, someone who is very willing to donate a few hundred dollars even though this is about a year's Google income from my site :)).

Maybe a mod is needed so that a central donation point can be offered and a percentage of the donations given get distributed on to those who contribute most?

I really hope some answers are given here as 3.1 is a massive improvement. It has actually become an asset rather than a liability for people like me.

Many thanks,
Pat

Thanks for the above replies and sorry for my slow reply. I thought my first post got lost in the mail as I couldn't find it after posting. Will also have to make sure I turn on topic reply notification.

Much appreciated and I will follow up on the suggestions ;). Thanks again!

(That Bertie Bear thing is a great idea for presents. Shame not available for Christmas. Brilliant suggestion Elias )

I've posted in this thread a few times over the years, but I have to come back again now and give thanks to everyone on the team, past and present. This software and the work I done while I was part of the phpBB community helped so much in pulling me towards where I am today. Amazing to see it still going strong. Forever greatful :)

I am very grateful for phpBB, the dev teams, support, and all of the teams.... from the beginning till today.

I would like to donate to the phpBB project using Bitcoin. How can I do that?

After a while of working with phpBB, using phpBB and making things for phpBB, I've come to the point to where I can't go without it. This is by far the best experience of online bulletin board software that I've ever seen. The community here is great, active, and ready to respond to any question or request you may have. Developers are always on the run making sure that every bug spotted is patched and every glitch is removed, never to be seen again. The graphics designers are always up to something great making sure that our online experience is free spirited and unique to what we want and what our communities want. Extensions are always adding something useful and fresh to our boars, and the people behind the extensions are small geniuses. All of this makes up the best bulletin board software around!

I just love what everyone has done with phpBB, and I can't wait for what's in store for the next major release, phpBB 4! I just have to say, thanks to everyone who takes part in the phpBB team and thanks to all the private developers for making our boards the best looking, functioning, and most unique board on the internet!

Most of all thanks to the whole community for always being there when we need you! Keep up all the great work and continue to make phpBB the best it can be!

I love phpBB!

Post by Po Lu » Tue Feb 09, 2016 1:53 am

Well, hi there! Even though I'm still new to PHP and phpBB I still love it!
1. It is under the GNU General Public License, Version 2
2. Simple and nice!
3. Freedom of choice
4. No ads
I started out with proboards but got fed up by the complexity and ads   22 days later and moved to phpBB :) :D.
Tried vBulletin but it cost too much.
I got introduced to phpBB by WinBoards (Powered by phpBB) and stuck with it since then! :D :D
Thank you phpBB team for such a wonderful product.

Thank You so much for the great efforts for the PHPBB.com Teams & Member in developing this Forum software Bigger & Greater !!

The one that i really like with this platform is The Load Speed & Caching performance. I don't feel slow even with my cheap hosting. I even integrate it with wordpress MOD

Really Loved it..

Keep Rolling Guys !!
