phpBB 3

Post by VeganFanatic »

I am new to phpBB but have been extremely pleased with the assistance I have received here. I use a generic phpBB installation and it runs fast, and every major search engine can read it. This means the forum is a valid place to post articles that can be searched out.

As phpBB is open source, there are the inevitable renegades all over. I plan to use the mainstream phpBB and this way I am confident updates will be published and I will not have any headaches.

Functionality is excellent, its easy to use, and easy to manage. Makes for a winning combination.

I don't have anyone to thank. I haven't got nearly any help here.

Edit: I haven't received help yet. I'm hoping I will though. My statement stands.

Pretty funny you say that...especially since 3 different team members have been attempting to help you in just 1 topic...

Well you got a product that has 'cost' probably over $1m (USD) to produce for nothing. ;)

Remember everyone here volunteers their time.

So as a computer hobbiest I decided to put up a web page to put up my personal opinion, have a forum and allow others to join and create and community help and donate as well.

Through many open source projects such as phpbb it was made fantastically simple to do everything I wanted and more.

Not only did I use a premade perfectly good open source creative commons CSS template as a basis for the site but i also used kompozer to build it the way i saw fit.

After purchasing the domain and host for 1 year i uploaded everything, configured to my specifications and used MySQL database.

I am currently using Ubuntu which is another open-source project that helps protect me and my data from any sort of virus and will keep the voltage down. And I DON'T HAVE TO AGREE TO ANY LICENSE WOOT!

I am an AVID Fan of all open source projects and will hopefully contribute in some small way soon.

The point of this post is to say Thank you for all the developers that spend countless hours coding just to make someone life like mine easy.

so

THANK YOU!!! :!: :!: :!: :!:

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to the team for a job well done on the Convertor from phpbb2 to 3. I ran it tonight, including the index, in less than two hours. Had two small glitches that were easily fixed, but overall I would say it was the best conversion I have done yet.

Thanks !!
