Flash tutorials

Post by Alastair.Leith » Tue Oct 04, 2011 5:46 pm

Not sure where to post this, but ace work there guys,

I am a huge fan of CBT myself and create quiet a lot of it.
I wish i had recorded the forum migration which might have been of interest you people.
I also wish i had stumbled across those tutorials in the earlier days, might have saved a lot of time :-)
If i have posted this in the wrong forum please feel free to relocate it. I could not find a feedback forum.
One again, nice one

Alastair

There's many a person in this community that needs a special "shout out", however in my own experience the following people have been really supportive in understanding the frustrations, and inexperience of newbies like myself;

Sinom
Kevin Clark
Dicky

Thanks guys, i really appreicate your time and patience, in the 12 months since i set up my forum i have learnt so much after getting thrust into making a forum with zero knowledge prior (even though it looks like i always have to beg for answers!). Without your helping on the things that didn't make sense to me - i'd have given up!
Respect, and please keep up the great work you do in helping others.

I believe I gave thanks in this thread a couple of years back, but again, I want to say THANK YOU!

I have been a phpbb user for almost 9 years now, and I wouldn't use any other forums software! Love you guys!

Thank You! I got my board to work!!! (and introduction)

Post by mmschweizer » Wed Mar 28, 2012 1:30 pm

Hello all,

I host a board about boards! (Wood surfboards) I have limited computer experience. I can do your basic MS Office stuff, and maybe a few little things here and there with posting stuff, but I had never created a website, much less host a bulletin board.

Through reading posts here and figuring stuff out, I was able to create my forum, change the look of it, and if I may brag, it looks darned good! Well the problem came when I was trying to update and somehow I really screwed up and the forum shut down. When I say shut down, I mean all you got was a blank screen with an error message! I was able to go into the FTP and reload each file one by one and got the admin portion working, but still it would crash. Well finally I figured by the error message which file was causing the problem and I replaced that file and my wife thought I had been stung by a bee or something because I jumped and screamed when the forum popped back up working perfectly!

I figure a lot of you here are probably computer programmers, but I thought you would appreciate that I figured all this out just by reading posts here on how to do stuff. I guess it's like when I, being a professional wood surfboard builder, get excited when someone who has never built a thing in his life builds a cool wood surfboard for the first time. I hope you will all share the stoke with me at figuring out PHPBB with no prior programming experience!

Also posting to introduce myself- longtime lurker, now official forum member. I firmly believe in proper introductions before you go posting dumb questions!!

Cheers,

Malcolm

Post by IanMc » Tue Apr 24, 2012 7:33 pm

and WOW! I am totally blown away, it has everything your heart could desire.

thank you thank you thank you.

The work that you have done here is admirable to say the least.

You have made a rugged information processing tool that brings people and communities together.

A noble pursuit if I may say so.

Thank you guys and gals !
