We have switched to authenticate against the phpBB Database just a few hours ago... seems like this character is not possible then (wiki refuse to store it). I will have a look into it - maybe i can add code to "remove" those chars by default and take them into account for the authentication.

At the moment forum logins work within the wiki, but with the downside of "forced" wiki usernames not that pretty. :/

I was thinking about a regular expression/preg-replace kind of things, yesterday. Don't know really how many and which are those chars wiki refuses though.

Yes, all alphanumeric usernames should work for sure, and others might as well.

Nice use of the style for the wiki. Is there any plans on it being released for download?

This wiki addition to phpBB will make it much easier to navigate, nice job!

To answer a question that came up earlier: It is not necessary, that articles in a different language are translations of existing english ones. They can have different content, or simply not have an english version too.

Yeah, pretty much... that’s what a wiki is for. Anything related to phpBB Code Documentation, Tutorials, whatever.
If you see something incorrect, go change it. 8-)

Maybe you can ask some help for integrating the logins at phpBB.nl, they did it nicely

I love this wiki, I've expanded the DBAL-article (I hope people like it :P).

We already integrated it. There should be no more problems. All special characters should work... one downside is there still, the usernames get adjusted the a format wikimedia supports. ;)

If someone used to have a registered name at the wiki and now assigned a different one can PM me, so i can merge the usernames.

Great work Meik. :)

BTW, I'm used to login digitising 3di instead of 3Di here, you know, username_clean?

there I'm logged in as 3di instead.

Do you think you will take care also of this?

All usernames get changed. First letter uppercase... all other lowercase. My name for example there is Acyd burn instead of Acyd Burn. I do not like it, but it must be done, due to the use of username_clean and mediawiki not really having such a good UTF8 implementation...

edit: since the login name is still always the phpBB username we could try to display the real names throughout the wiki (the real names are by default the full username, after profile creation able to be changed by the user). Have already thought about this yesterday, but must admit that i never worked with mediawiki before. :)

And, a dumb Q now (assuming others of mine were smart though :) )..

If I want to translate/port an English page to Italian, how can I do that?

I would like to contribute there making something useful for all of my fellow whom does not understand English, you know..

I must admit, I don't like Wikis because they tend to be poorly organized, and sloppily-put-together. Ie, it's too hard to find the useful information that you want.

I hope the phpBB one will differ from this common model.
