Joomla -> phpBB Bridge

Postby Frost° » Wed Sep 03, 2008 7:23 pm

I remember seeing discussion about the bridge for phpBB and joomla! by the creator of RocketThemes at LondonVasion but apparently that's only for phpBB 2.x?

I am opening a gamer branch of my site (because as much as I try to stop... I'm just a gamer in heart) and I wanted to integrate some sort of cms but using phpBB for the forum is an absolute must.

Does the bridge for phpBB3 and joomla not exist?

If not, what would be a similar method? I would rather stay with pure phpBB if possible.

It's phpBB3 only, from what I remember. It's not for phpBB2 at all.
I blog about phpBB: phpBBDoctor blog
Still using phpbb2? So am I! Click below for details

There are other CMSs besides Joomla! that provide an effective phpBB3 bridge (such as my upcoming CMS). Search it on Google, and you will find many results. Still, I believe that Joomla! provides a fairly useful bridge to phpBB3.

Hmm, we need a good CMS that bridges over to phpBB3. I'm creating one like that now, but it's nowhere near completion. There's got to be another CMS out there that provides a good phpBB3 bridge. :?

Ok that's not going to work. They got people to donate over $2,500 and promised to get it done, and seemed to have just stopped working on it?

In that case, I think I will just build my own.

@legohalflife2man

I'm interested to see what you've created so far, I might just get a team together and start a new cms or something.

I recall I tried it with a less version some months ago (March).. http://joomla.io3di.com/distribution/ and http://joomla.io3di.com .. but I did never get other spare time in order to update it.. though..

worth to try maybe: http://www.rocketwerx.com/forum/viewtop ... 8203#p8203

instead of making a new one CMS I guess you could help out there, there is no need to reinvent the wheel IMHO.. :)

What version of Joomla are you using... If you're using 1.5 then try jfusion's forum bridge. It's for phpbb3. There isn't a bridge that i know of for 1.0 & phpbb3, that i've seen, but that's not to say one isn't out there.
