Hi :)

Over the next week or so we will be collecting questions to the MOD Team from the community :) If you have any questions relating to Modifications, the MOD Database or any other area the MOD Team oversees this is the perfect opportunity to ask it! We will select the best questions and post the answers in the coming weeks in a phpBB.com blog post. Anyone can post a question, MOD author, MOD installer or even a non-MOD'der (be warned: we will convince you to join the wonderful world of MOD'ding ;) )

To post your question, simply enter it as a reply to this thread :)

Thanks! We looks forward to reading some interesting questions!

Hey Mod TEAM!! Thanks for everything, really love phpbb.

Just wondering if phpbb is planning to incorporate a wordpress style autoinstaller / updater for ModX files into the admin panel?

Wordpress is also GPL, but I'm not too sure if it's as easy as copy and pasting most of their code.

Anyways, here's a screen, if it helps
"Plugins" / Mods

Thanks for being so awesome!

why don't you make a MOD autoinstaller, like in VB, there's the feature to RUN the install.XML file from ACP?

My question is are we allowed to start a topic in Mods in Development when we are not actually the mod author?

(My reason:- There is a great phpBB3 Topic Cement Mod used for ordering topics over on phpbbhacks.com which I've seen loads of people request on here. There is a small part which seems to have a bug that I need help on.)

Qu. When a great mod is created for phpBB, whom does the decision lie with as to whether the mod is implemented into the next version of phpBB. And how do you approach mod authors about possible use of their idea.

I want to make use of this opportunity that you guys are offering to ask why the SEO mod is still in the MOD database as a validated mod. It is known that when installing the current version, users will rapidly encounter bugs caused by this mod. The solutions to the mere part of the list of bugs can be found when searching through 56 pages of replies. Although most bugs are solved by users, some still have to be fixed. Maybe it would be advisable to have this mod updated or to remove it out of the MOD database. Can this be considered? If not, then why not? Thanks!

You mean like the once-upon-a-time MMW (MODs Most Wanted)? I believe people were volunteering and then dissappearing...or starting and abandoning.

well, more of an approach like "MODs that dont edit one line in a file" (ACP ADD USERS anyone?). are there plans for another MMW? what can be done to ensure that people who sign up for this dont do a disappearing act on us? stuff like that. :D

That happens all the time. You don't need MMW to induce it.

I have done MMW twice. The first time I finished. The second time I didn't. It happens for various reasons. :)

Is anything going to be done about the search function ? When searching for a MOD, it is almost completely useless. I an not new at this, but I have a terrible time finding MODs that I know are in the database.

I can go to google and find them on this site, but not using the phpbb search.
