Thanks to all the hard working volunteers that made phpBB happen in the first place, those that grabbed the baton and ran with it, and those who just jumped through rings of fire to get everything operational again. May the attacker reap the karma he has created for himself.

Welcome back all. Thanx for all the hard work to recover and thanx for the use of temporary server and all that jazz.
but then you send an e-mail to an admin and you tell him what the vulnerability is. There is no reason, apart from being an idiot, to steal and publish the DB tables.
Yeah I have been "attacked" probably 4 times maybe 5 in last couple years but 3 of the times there was a nice person that did not tear down my site and actualy sent me an email telling me what they seen as an issue and how to plug it up. 2 times was a kiddie being lame and adding phishing pages etc to the server and changing page sources etc etc. I get the hacker lifestyle of the and understand and respect the "real" ones. :ugeek: I just do not get the destructive igits attacking positive sites or "communities" go destroy some child porn site or something  and make your "destruction" actualy be "constructive"

Welcome back all cya!

Ah, this would explain why my spam filter has been working double time for the past week. I haven't signed up for the newsletter so I'm late getting the news.
What a truly despicable thing to have done! - and what a dumb-ass fool this guy is too. I hope you catch the little [word filter overload].

I don't think this is the cause of spam email you've been receiving. I had two email addresses affiliated with phpBB.com -- neither one of them used elsewhere, and only my team address (which was not used for my account nor posted publicly) has gotten any spam (prior to this it had none -- it was leaked on another list as part of the hack). My other address has still yet to receive any.

You said they have stolen all emails of the phpbb.com users, there is a big probability that they will SELL
those emails to spam sites
This is phpbb.com mistake, it can`t be solved, we just have to live with it and hope it will not happend again

With the list being up on torrent sites for over a week now, I think anyone buying them would be pretty stupid :P
