You also have the option to download the files and upload them yourself, instead of using FTP option within the update system. Why not try that?

My forum has just about (take a breath) 30+ mods installed...most of which are mine. I also oversee 5 forums (eg update, install mods, customize, etc). The autoupdater worked flawlessly on each and every instance.

Just thought I would toss that out there.

BTW, personal thanks to Terrafrost for fixing the ban table issue when deleting a user (a personal "boo yah") and for many, many, many code fixes.

Make a backup of your forum files, do perform the auto update, things don't go well restore the files, purge the cache and try again.

Greetings,
2) grab a 12 pack and get to work.
Now seeing the results of this would be very interesting... especially if the 12 pack is empty... ;)

To put it in perspective, a text template (anyone remember that) of the code changes automatically generated by one of the MOD Team's tools produces this nearly half megabyte of text. Looking over it, there is some obvious weirdness (the tools do not like blank lines), but if anyone absolutely has to have it, use it at your own risk.

What’s wrong with making it like a regular XML install file?

That's significantly more difficult to autogenerate, and the occasional problem in the text template can cause the MODX install file to hemorrhage.

I clicked "download phpBB" from the phpBB.com downloads page.
Come out on ohloh.com and see a big button "click here" so I click there and got on reghelper.com
Now that SourceForge has acquired Ohloh that page will probably be plastered with even more ads. :|

Is it just me, or is the includes/session.php file impossible to update?

I keep uploading the new file and they give it back to me again to upload again every time.

Well, I finished the update. I used the automatic pack + patch files, is a fact: I spent more time than usual because the patch file is very confuse.

Ok, you don't want release the code changes pack, that's ok, but I ask: Is it possible give a more friendly appearance to the patch files? Maybe it's can help everybody, users and team.

And my God, each new update bring millions of fixed bugs and other "small things". I don't know, but phpBB in the 3.0.x version has more bugs than 2.0.x version. Am I crazy or no?

Patch is a standardised format. It's very quick if you know what you're doing.

[Fix] IE8 textarea issues (Bug #43305)

Code: Select all

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />
Would you please explain about this fix? this command seems to be a temporary solution rather than a permanent solution for it! isn't it? So we'll lose all new features in IE8 by this command. this problem is a common issue and a bug from IE8 and occurs when we use percent in textarea width instead of fixed width.
So IE should fix it not phpBB!
Any idea?
Thanks in advance
