it will be better and important to turned ON quick reply option by default
NO we don't want to alter how the board behaves out of the box to a large degree such as adding quick reply. Plus styles will need to support it before it can used.
i have above 200 forums in my board

it will be very hard to turn it on in each forum
True, but if it's on by default, people with 200 forums who don't want it will have to turn it off the same way. ;)

The default should be to keep the status quo.
moh.elmadany wrote:you can make this option in "Post settings" in ACP

Allow quick reply in all forums : Yes / No
If disallowed it .. a forum-specific setting will be used

;)
That's discussion that actually belongs here! (Discussing a feature in 3.0.6....) I don't know if development will accept that, or if the SQL query will be sufficient. However, I would change the wording to "Enable Quick Reply in all forums" (saying no to an "Allow" question sounds like it would prevent forum-based permissions from enabling it).

It will probably be easy just to write a single simple SQL query to have it display on all forums. Ask about it when 3.0.6 comes out. ;)

It really surprised me that till today there is still no such implemented feature in phpbb3.05!? We miss the effectiveness of the forum!!!
I think this is a "must-have" feature for every forum!
Thank you,
Vadim
I've received PM and because forum won't let me answer PM I'll say it here.
Yes there is MOD like Notify Moderator but it is such a hassle to install it, and then every time new phpbb version comes up I need to reinstall this mod. It just surprise me again and again why this MOD is still not implemented for good!?

This is what the automatic update process is for (not having to reinstall mods after every update). I agree that phpBB is currently seriously lacking in the area of actually notifying moderators there is work to be done (i.e. notification on new entries in the queue, or reported posts). That is, however, not a feature to be included in 3.0.6, so there's little point in discussing it here. If you have good ideas on how to do this exactly, maybe a discussion topic is in order.

I've said this time and time again...

Let's not forget the 4 preceding spaces in front of

Code: Select all

 that screws up firefox users.

Otherwise, nice release. Looks like intense lobbying does work.

Can you reveal any plans on the quick reply? Just a regular no BBcode & no smilies QR? or what kind of features does will it have?

The Blog Post wrote:Option-wise the quick reply implementation will be a bare-bone text area with no buttons, no options, no smilies. For this the posting page is there - a quick reply feature should be used by people who know how to use BBCode and how to properly format their posts.

Ah...I forgotten about that post. Yes, so it will just be a barebone quick reply. I'm sure other people will make a mod to add features to it.

This sounds like a regular bug and I would expect it's already in the bug tracker (in whatever state). Please see if it is, what the verdict was and if it hasn't been reported (I can hardly imagine), report it to the bug tracker. This thread is only intended to discuss the announced new features, not to discuss your own favourite "missing" feature or pet pieve (bug).

Link? In any case, it's basically just one of many. Either way, I am a Firefox user, I have seen code bbcodes plenty, and I've never felt "screwed up"...
